Abstract

1398900 Azo dyes CIBA-GEIGY AG 27 July 1972 [27 July 1971] 35245/72 Heading C4P New azo dyes containing as the coupling component, the radical of 2-amino-3-hydroxy pyridine to which a nucleophilic substituent which is not a halogen atom is bonded in the 5-position, are described. They are prepared by reacting the corresponding dyes containing a halogen atom in the 5-position with a reagent which introduces a nucleophilio substituent, such as a phenol, mercaptan, amine or alkali metal cyanide. The dyes may be subsequently metallized and/or treated with a compound introducing a fibre-reactive group. The dyes are used to colour leather and wool, silk, synthetic polyamides, polyurethanes and polyacrylonitrile fibres in blue, grey and green shades.
