Abstract

1434943 Drawer cabinets ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd 4 Dec 1973 [20 Dec 1972] 59700/72 Heading A4B [Also in Division B8] A shell and drawer unit comprises an open fronted shell 10-19 which houses a plurality of drawers arranged one above the other, the shell being provided internally at its rear with abutments 20 which provide a vertically stepped edge 21 to limit retraction of the drawers in differing degrees whereby in their fully retracted positions the drawers assume a stepped relationship with one another, the abutments 20 being formed by flaps bent up about a line 23 from the bottom wall 10 of the shell. The drawers and shell may be made of rigid plastics material, but as shown are formed from separate folded blanks of corrugated fibreboard. Each abutment flap 20 has a projecting nib 20a which locates in a slot 22 in a rear wall flap 13 of the shell. Each drawer has outturned flanges along its longitudinal sides to provide a runner surface for a superposed drawer. Complete removal of a drawer is prevented by abutment of the front edge of a flap 29, extending from the rear wall 28 of the drawer along the outer side of the drawer side wall 26, with the rear inclined edge of arc 17 of a series of flaps 16-18 reversely bent into the interior of the shell around its open end.
