Abstract

1434910 Liquid level indicator AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS Ltd 15 June 1973 [26 Sept 1972] 44426/72 Heading G1H [Also in Division H1] In an electrically insulating reservoir 3 suitable for a pressure fluid master cylinder and containing electrically conductive fluid 5 which makes contact with electrode 33 when it is above a predetermined level 37, electrode 33 is moulded in an insulating portion 31 of reservoir 3. As shown, reservoir 3 is of moulded plastics material. Reservoir 3 is mounted on a pressure fluid master cylinder 1 of the braking system of a motor vehicle by a bolt 25 so that the electrical circuit is between electrode 33 and cylinder 1 via fluid 5 and bolt 25. Alternatively a second electrode may be moulded in the wall of reservoir 3 similar to electrode 33. The normal level of fluid is at 39 and when it falls below 37 a warning signal is made so that the reservoir can be topped up.
