Abstract

1434798 Supersensitized photographic silver halide emulsions FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 20 July 1973 [20 July 1972] 34832/73 Heading G2C A photographic silver halide emulsion is spectrally sensitized so that it has a maximum sensitivity at 580 to 640 nm. by incorporating a supersensitizing combination of at least one dye of the Formula:- where Z<SP>1</SP> completes a #-naphthothiazole or #-naphthoselenazole ring; Z<SP>2</SP> completes a benzoxazole ring; A<SP>1</SP> is H, 1-4C alkyl, ar(1-4C alkyl) or aryl; R<SP>1</SP> is optionally substituted alkyl; R<SP>2</SP> hydroxyalkyl, carboxyalkyl or substituted alkyl having at least one substituent comprising a sulpho group; X<SP>#</SP> is an anion; and k is 0 or 1, the dye forming an intramolecularsalt when k is 0, together with either at least one dye of the Formula:- where Z<SP>3</SP> and Z<SP>4</SP> each complete a benzothiazole, benzoselenazole, #-naphthothiazole or #-naphthoselenazole; A<SP>2</SP> is H, 1-3C alkyl, phenethyl or aryl, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are each optionally substituted alkyl at least one of R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> being hydroxyalky, carboxyalkyl or substituted alkyl having at least one substituent comprising a sulpho group; Y<SP>#</SP> is an anion; and m is 0 or 1 or at least one dye of the Formula:- where Z<SP>5</SP> completes a benzoxazole or benzimidazole ring; Z<SP>6</SP> completes a benzothiazole, benzoselenazole or (3-naphthothiazole ring; when m is 0 the dye forming an intramolecular salt.
