Abstract

1434788 Delay devices BOFORS AB 13 April 1973 [14 April 1972] 17992/73 Heading F3A A device for delaying initiation in a bomb, projectile or rocket, comprises: a channel 1; a cover 3; and a lead, alloy, or visco-elastic washer 4 exerting pressure on a gas-less delay composition 2. Owing to the pressure, the washer is adapted to the surface topography of the delay composition. The device is annular and is formed with a plurality of holes 11, with a selected one of which an igniting device can be associated. The igniting device can take the form of a striker 12 which sets back due to inertia to ignite a friction ignition composition 9. A stop provided in the annular delay composition 2 allows the combustion to reach a flash pellet 6 from one direction only. The flash from the pellet 6 ignites a black powder composition 15 which, in the case of illuminating ammunition, separates the shell and ignites the flare.
