Abstract
1434677 Seaming; jointing NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 17 Jan 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 02251/74 Headings B3V and B3J Two sheets 16, 20 are joined at their edges by forming parallel ribs 18, 22 and/or 18<SP>1</SP>, 22<SP>1</SP> in the edges to be joined and tightly folding one of the edges over the other, Fig. 3, so that the ribs on one sheet intersect portions of those on the other. The ribs need not be parallel or perpendicular to the edges of the sheets and, during the seaming operation, are compressed where they cross each other. The joint may be used for automatic vehicle doors, fenders, tracks, &c., and may be strengthened by adhesives, welding or fasteners.
