Abstract
1434267 Bar-stock feeding TWYFORD MOORS (AIRCRAFT & ENG) Ltd 12 Dec 1974 [13 Dec 1973] 57822/73 Heading B3B A bar holder arrangement for holding barstock 18 to be fed to a machine tool comprises a plurality of bar guides 14, 15 each having a semi-circular recess therein and co-operating each with another in pairs to define a plurality of circular receiving means to receive and guide the bar-stock, each of said bar guides 14, 15 being pivotally mounted about respective pivots 12, 13 to be pivotable outwardly to permit passage between co-operating pairs of bar guides of a feed member 35 having a diameter greater than the diameter defined by the circular receiving means of said pairs of bar guides. Each bar guide 14, 15 is pivotally mounted on an upstanding part 6, 7 formed respectively at each end of a lever 2 pivoted at pivot 3 to open up the holder arrangement to receive a new bar. The plurality of levers 2 are operated simultaneously by a thrust bar 11. Each upstanding part 6, 7 also has a semi-circular recess to receive and guide the feed member 35. The bar guides 14, 15 are spring biased to an open position and held closed by latches. A chain drive for the feed member 35 carries a lug just in advance of the feed member 35 to release the catches. New bar stock is fed laterally into the holder arrangement by a pivotal arm mechanism (Fig. 6, not shown). Replaceable nylon inserts 16, 17 for a particular bar size are fitted to the bar guides 14, 15.
