Abstract

1434249 Suspended ceilings H W DUPREE 29 June 1973 [30 June 1972] 31096/73 Heading E1W [Also in Divisions F2 and H2] A suspended ceiling is formed from plastics components comprising runners 10 formed with an aperture 8 on their lower surface adjacent each end and two opposite apertures 9 in their upper opposite side surfaces at each end. Further comprising members 11 for supporting and connecting the runners and having sockets 15 for receiving the end portions of the runners each socket having a base 12 provided with an upwardly projecting pin 20 and having at the upper end of opposed side walls mutually opposed horizontally inwardly projecting stud fasteners (not shown) which may be secured by welding or glueing during manufacture in undercut slots 21 provided in the side walls. The members 11 may be of cruciform, T or Y shape and may be provided with an aperture near the top of reinforcing web 16 for the fixing of a hooked portion of a hanger alternatively a central threaded boss may be provided into which a hanger engaging hook may be fixed. The array of runners may be square, rectangular or triangular and the spaces between them filled with panels or subsidiary frames which may be circular. The upper channel 5 of the runners may be used to carry electrical wiring and a rail carrying bared current conductors may be secured to the lower edge of the runners when used as shop fittings.
