Abstract

1434229 Mining machines JEFFREY GALION INC 6 Dec 1973 [7 Dec 1972] 56722/ 73 Heading E1F In a mining machine having at the front end thereof a mining head, a gathering head below the mining head, and a conveyor extending back through the machine from the gathering head, the heads and the conveyor are so supported on the chassis of the machine for independent vertical pivotal movement about a common transverse axis by a pivot structure that either of the heads may be removed from the pivot structure without disturbance of the other head or the conveyor may be removed without disturbance of the gathering head. Preferably the structure comprises a bearing assembly located at each side of the main frame. Each bearing structure comprises first and second upstanding members 46, 47 having aligned bores therein to receive a removable sleeve 50 for pivotally supporting between the members a boom arm 17 of the cutter head. A second sleeve 17 is removably secured in a reduced diameter portion of the bore in the member 47. This sleeve has a conical portion 75 projecting inwards beyond the member to form a bearing for a boom arm 76 of the gathering head. The second sleeve is bored to receive a pivot pin 83 passing through a a laterally extending sleeve 87 of the conveyor. Specification 3307879 is referred to.
