Abstract

1433814 Cameras FRANKE & HEIDECKE GmbH [trading as ROLLEI-WERKE FRANKE & HEIDECKE] 12 June 1973 [19 Aug 1972] 27913/73 Heading G2A A camera has a central electronic control system comprising a step-by-step switch I arranged to sequentially initiate operation of various camera elements (e.g. diaphragm closing, mirror hinging, shutter opening) and responsive to a programme and control unit II into which are fed actual valve signals generated in response to the state of some of the elements and the state of manually operated elements (e.g. camera release member 27 multiple exposure selector 1). As shown operation of the camera release 27, causes the unit II to actuate a generator IIIa which switches switch I sequentially from steps zero to three during which the outputs 31 from switch I initiate light measurement by unit IV and corresponding adjustment of the diaphragm 10, 11 which also depends on the manually set film and shutter speed controls VIII, VI. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the shutter is controlled automatically, and film speed and diaphragm aperture are set in manually if a release block 16 is actuated unit II prevents further switching. Otherwise generator IIIa switches switch I to step four to close the shutter 14, five to hinge up the mirror 13 and open a protective shutter 3, six to open the shutter and energize a generator IIIb which compensates for battery voltage loss, and seven to energize an exposure timer IIIc (a monostable flip-flop, (35), Fig. 4 (not shown), de-energizing the shutter opening windings after a certain time in the case of long exposures) and via unit II to switch off generators IIIa, IIIb. Generator IIIc then switches switch I to step eight to close the shutter, generator IIIa is turned on to switch to step nine to operate the film wind 5, return the mirror and protective shutter and turn IIIa off again. When the mirror has returned unit II switches on generator IIIa and switch I is stepped sequentially from ten to fifteen to close the shutter, open the diaphragm and switch off the power. Pressing a measurement key 26 steps switch II from 0 to 3 to measure and indicate diaphragm value, Y adjustment of units VI or VIII is made switch I is returned to zero by unit II via lead 12. Y both key 26 and release 27 are pressed switch I is switched straight to step four to begin exposure. Multiple exposures Unit II receives an input 1 indicating selection of multiple exposures. Depressing release 27 above causes the whole programme, steps 1-14, to be carried out repeatedly i.e. the diaphragm is set afresh for each exposure. Depressing release 27 and measurement key 27 omits steps 1-3 i.e. the exposure pro- gramme is carried out repeatedly with the same aperture. Depressing key 26 alone causes only steps 0-3 to be carried out. The photo-electric measurement system can be disabled for both single and multiple exposures; the exposure programme carried out again depending on whether one or both of release 27 and measurement key 26 are depressed.
