Abstract
1433786 Drip delivery apparatus MAGYAR TUDOMANYOS AKADEMIA KUTATASI ESZKOZOKET KNITELEZO VALLALAT 17 May 1973 [18 May 1972] 23660/73 Heading B8N Small quantities of liquid are delivered from a capillary tube 2 when the liquid is charged by an electrode 8 connected to an interrupter switch 5, an earthed component 4 being positioned below the tube. The capillary tube 2 may be made of electrically conductive material and serve as the electrode. As shown in Fig. 1, the liquid 3 in the container 1 is prevented from escaping by the capillary action of the tube 2. When the switch 5 is closed, Fig. 2, electrical charges of like polarity are set up on the surface of the liquid at the orifice so that the electrical charges cause a repelling action and cause the drips to be formed and separated in regular succession. An earthed ring 4 promotes the separation and accelerates the dripping into a collecting vessel (6). The duration of the closing of the switch is proportional to the quantity dispensed. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the collecting vessel (6) is earthed and the ring 4 is replaced by a ring-shaped electrical grid (9) which is supplied with a voltage lower than that to the electrode. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the diameter of the capillary tube is increased and a cylindrical pin extends into the tube to provide the capillary; if desired, the pin may serve as the electrode.
