Abstract
1433757 Casting foamed plastics DUNLOP Ltd 3 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 43659/73 Heading B5A Foamed plastic is continuously cast by depositing a foam-forming mixture at a deposit station 3 in a translatable open-topped trough consisting of a bottom support surface 7 and side support surfaces 5 and 18 and drawing the trough away in the direction indicated by the arrow A, the bottom support passing through a first zone (in which the reaction expands to form a foaming mass) in which its direction of motion is declined with respect to that of the side support surfaces and thence to a second zone in which its direction of motion of the bottom support surface is substantially parallel to that of the side support surfaces, means (not shown in Fig. 2) being provided to move at least one side support laterally (i.e. in the direction of arrow B) so as to adjust the width of the trough, the laterally movable surface comprising a moving web of flexible material which is folded around a straight edge 20 substantially parallel to the declined portion of the bottom surface.
