Abstract

1433642 Laminates CELOTEX CORP 7 Jan 1974 [11 Jan 1973] 629/74 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] A laminate in which the core comprises a polyisocyanate foam may be prepared using an apparatus as shown in the accompanying drawing. The foam-forming ingredients (see Division C3) are passed through lines 20, 21 and 22 as well as lines 23, 24 and 25, to a mixing head. A lower substrate material is pulled from roll 30 and an upper substrate material from roll 31 over idler rollers such as 46 and 47 to the nip between metering rolls 32, 33. An even amount of foam-forming mixture can thus be maintained upstream of the nip between the rolls and the composite structure comprising a lower substrate 51, an upper substrate 52 and a core 53 is then passed into oven 35 where the foam is allowed to form. The compositie structure 55 then leaves the oven, passes between the nip of pull rolls 38, 39 and is cut by knife 44 into individual panels 57, 57<SP>1</SP>. The substrate material may be paper.
