Abstract

1433362 Printing MLG ENG Ltd 1 Feb 1974 [1 Feb 1973] 5038/73 Heading B6C [Also in Division D1] Fabric or a sheet of yarn is printed by forcing a dye into the fabric or sheet 20 from an adjacent screen which retains dye in a desired pattern, which may be random, by capillary action, by directing pressurized gas through the screen into the sheet or fabric to expel the dye. As shown, pressurized gas is fed to manifold 28 through rotary screen 2 to fabric or sheet 20. The screen dips into dye bath 6, and may be doctored on the outside. The screen may have a metal sleeve to blank off some holes and this sleeve may be closely-fitting, or be formed by endless band 36. The screen may alternatively be formed by an endless belt, or an endless belt supported by a roller. The screen may be moved at the same or a different speed from the fabric or sheet 20. The gas may be air or may be, e.g. steam to also fix the dyestuff.
