Abstract

1432901 Controlling copying machines OCEVAN DER GRINTEN NV 25 July 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 33007/74 Heading G2H In an electro-photographic copier of the kind in which a photo-conductive belt 27 is transported through a series of processing stations where it is successively charged 42, exposed, developed 52 and the developed image transferred 39 to a copy sheet 55 to which it is then fixed 59, 60; the belt 27 is provided along its length with a plurality of equally spaced marks dividing it into a plurality of equal length portions, on each of which portions an image is to be formed, and the marks are sensed at a point 53 along the path of travel of the belt 27 to produce electrical pulses which, together with electrical timing pulses generated at a frequency proportional to the velocity of the belt 27, are used to trigger circuitry that regulates the initiation and duration of operation of the various processing stations and the copy sheet feed. As shown a zigzag belt 27 is used the marks coinciding with the folds in the belt. The controls may be set to produce one or a pre-set number of copies of an original.
