Abstract

1432804 Photographic colour diffusion transfer process using a silver halide solvent POLAROID CORP 16 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 18135/73 Heading G2C An integral negative-positive dye reflection print wherein the positive and negative images are separated by a light-reflecting layer is formed by development of an exposed silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith a dye imageproviding material with an aqueous processing composition and thereby forming an imagewise distribution of a diffusible dye image-providing substance, at least a portion of this transferring to a a superposed image-receiving layer on a transparent support, thereby forming a dye image in the imagereceiving layer, development being effected in the presence of a silver halide solvent capable of forming a soluble silver complex and soluble silver complex capable of diffusing to the image-receiving layer being precipitated by a silver precipitating agent between the light-reflecting layer and the silver halide layer or layers. A photographic material comprises layers forming a laminate, or that are attached to one another and are capable of forming a laminate, the laminate comprising, in order and in superposed relationship a transparent support, an imagereceiving layer and at least one silver halide emulsion having associated therewith an image dye-providing substance, and also comprising a light reflecting layer between the image-receiving and silver halide layers or means for forming such a layer and an aqueous processing composition, the material also containing a silver halide solvent that is capable of forming a soluble silver complex, and a layer, or means for providing upon development a layer, of silver precipitating agent between the light-reflecting layer and the silver halide layer or layers. The material may also contain a second silver halide complexing agent which is capable of forming a relatively insoluble complex with silver halide e.g. a mercaptotetrazole, mercaptosubstituted tetrahydropyrimidine or 6-(optionally substituted alkyl) amino-purine, Specification 1419777. Part at least of the silver halide solvent(s) are preferably in the processing composition, preferably contained in a rupturable container.
