1432803 Impregnating fibrous webs W ROSENLEW AB OY 12 April 1973 [19 April 1972] 17650/73 Heading D1L A loose fibrous web 4, supported on wire or felt 13 is passed over guide roller 5 to impregnating means comprising a pair of nip rollers 1, 2, the lower one 2 being partly immersed in a bath of impregnant 7. Means are provided to adjust the length of web 4 in contact with roll 1 before the nip. These means comprise either adjustment of the position of roll 5 between, for example, positions I and II or permitting one roller to adopt different positions around the circumference of the other, for instance by moving roll 1 between positions I and II. By means of this arrangement air can be expressed from the web before the impregnant is applied.
