Abstract

143,252. Decker, W. April 23, 1915, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to automatic pistols of the kind in which the breech-block is fixed to a slide mounted on and enclosing the barrel, and consists in a method of mounting the breech-block in the slide to facilitate the assembling of the parts of the breech action. The breech-block, shown separately in Fig. 4, has a rearward extension 11 adapted to fit the bore at the rear of the slide 6, and is inserted through a recess in the top of slide and pushed rearwardly until a catch 14 formed by the rear end of the extractor 12 snaps into a notch in the slide. The sear 21 is formed with an upward projection 19 adapted to form the rear abutment of the firing spring 17. The trigger 8 is formed with a forwardly projecting hook 9 adapted to retain the slide 6 in the rear position, shown in Fig. 3, to facilitate assembling, and for hand loading. A lever 24, Fig. 5, depresses the sear-actuating bar 23 when the breech is open to ensure single shots. The firing-pin 16 acts on an ejector at the end of the opening movement. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a safety device consisting of an extension 27 of the magazine catch 26, adapted to lock the sear when the magazine is removed. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
