Abstract

1432096 Aromatization INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 2 April 1974 14675/74 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Aromatic hydrocarbons are produced by treating a feed stream containing saturated gasolines, and which is substantially free from ethylenically unsaturated compounds, with H 2 and a catalyst at 400-600‹ C., 1-60 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> and 0À1-10 LHSV, the catalyst comprising (a) alumina, (b) 0À01-5 wt. per cent Pt, (c) 0À001-1 wt per cent Ir, Rh and/or Pd and (d) 0À0001-0À05 wt per cent Cu, Ag and/or Au, each with respect to the alumina. The catalyst may also contain 0À1-10 wt. per cent halogen, with respect to the alumina. The reaction may be carried out in one or more reaction zones containing fixed or fluidized beds.
