Abstract

1431979 Telescopic jibs for tower cranes PINGON SA 27 Dec 1973 [27 Dec 1972] 59746/73 Heading B8B A telescopic jib for a tower crane comprises an internal section telescoping inside an external section, the external section having a rolling track formed by flanges 4 on a pair of members 3 for rollers 11 of a trolley 12 and the internal section having a similar track formed by flanges 8 of a pair of members 7. The flanges 4 and 8 are offset laterally but are closely adjacent at the same level. The rollers 11 are mounted for movement from one track to the other as the trolley passes from one section of the jib to the other. As shown the roller 11 is mounted on a support 13 carried on the trolley 12 by a parallelogram linkage 14 moved automatically between extreme positions 11, 11a at the changeover point between the jib sections by an actuating finger 18 on a member 6 of the external jib rocking a spring-loaded cam 16 controlling a lever 15 connected to the parallelogram linkage 14.
