Abstract

1431953 Capacitors GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 15 Aug 1974 [15 Aug 1973] 38522/73 Heading H1M In a wound capacitor of the staggered foil type wherein the dielectric comprises strips of heat shrinkable material, a terminal comprises a wire bent double to provide a portion 3a, 4 which is inserted into the bore of the capacitor roll and secured therein by heat-shrinking the dielectric material, one of the free ends 3 constituting a lead and one other extending outwardly to provide a portion 5 electrically connected to an electrode extending to that end of one roll. As shown portion 5 is in the form of a spiral, but it may alternatively extend radially in a straight line (Fig. 3, not shown). As shown there is a kink between portion 3 and 3a so that portion 3 is symmetrical in relation to 3a and 4. The dielectric may be biaxially oriented polystyrene.
