Abstract
1431539 Welding lattices; making gratings; shearing EVG ENTWICKLUNGS-U VERWERTUNGS GmbH 11 April 1973 [3 May 1973] 16192/74 Headings B3R B3A and B3W In a method of and apparatus for manufacturing a reinforcement lattice which comprises parallel pairs of rods L welded to transverse connecting bars Q and having rungs S welded to the rods of each pair, e.g. as shown in Fig. 4, the rods are fed longitudinally to both a rung welding station (left hand side, Fig. 1) and a connecting bar welding station, F (right hand side) located one behind the other and the rungs and connecting bars are welded to the rods in a predetermined spaced relationship to avoid overlapping of welds. In the particularly described machine, the rods are fed intermittently by a pivoted member 6, having an end 7 which engages in turn the bars Q, of the completed lattice, the member 6 being linked to machine crankshaft 9. Member 6 is located at the connecting bar welding station F, which is of conventional design comprising two rows of relatively movable electrodes 4, 5. The rung welding station, Fig. 2, comprises a transverse row of welding devices A-E with jaw-like electrodes 13 hydraulically operated to clamp and weld rods L 1 and L 2 on to rungs S fed in slots or recesses 51 in intermittently rotating plates 42 from a line of rungs S. The rungs are lifted into the recesses 51 by lifters 44 on reciprocating beam 45 operated by cams 46 on main shaft 16 which also drives shaft 9. Two rungs may be fed at once from a modified form of plate 42 and lifter mechanism (Fig. 3, not shown) to two rows of welding devices to form the lattice of Fig. 4. In an alternative method (not shown) the rods L are fed continuously to the stations which have electrodes which move with the rods. Shearing.-The rungs S may be cut from rectangular section rods ST, Fig. 2, which are fed intermittently by rollers 22-connected via ratchet and pawl mechanism 19 to main shaft 16-to a rectangular channel shaped guide 25 comprising alternate fixed and movable sections 26 and 27. Movable sections 27 are moved transversely of rod ST by rollers 34 mounted on triangular plate 33 pivoted by connecting rod 31 on eccentric 30 of main shaft 16. Welding and shearing takes place during pauses in the feed.
