Abstract

1431533 Protecting slides KABELSCHLEPP GmbH 11 March 1974 [7 April 1973] 10668/74 Heading B3B A protective cover for a guide track 10 of a machine tool comprises a plurality of telescopically arranged cover plates 11, 12, each carrying two pairs of pivotal links 17a, 17b for mounting a pair of resilient elements 20, 21 extending transversely of the direction of movement of the plates and being spaced apart in the direction of said movement, and an abutment 15, the abutment 15 of one plate, being arranged between the transverse resilient elements of the adjoining larger, overlapping plate, so that as the cover approaches a fully extended or a fully contracted position the abutment 15 engages a resilient element 20, 21 and deflects it to store energy to bias it to a midway position. The resilient elements may be provided by two separate endless resilient bands passing between each pair of pivoted links 17a, 17b, or by a single endless resilient band (Figs. 4-6, not shown) passing around the four links. Each cover plate has one end wall 14 supported by the track 10, e.g. by rollers 13, and its other end supported by the next adjacent cover plate.
