Abstract

1431526 Aerials GENERAL MOTORS CORP 16 May 1974 [11 June 1973] 21773/74 Heading H4A A motor-car radio aerial comprises a conductor 42 supported by a non-conductive upper portion 34t of an instrument panel assembly 22 which, in its installed position, is adjacent the lower edge 18 of an opening 14 for a windscreen 20. As described, the conductor 42 is a wire which is disposed in a loosely defined overlapping configuration. One end of the wire is earthed and the other end is free. A lead from a receiver is connected to the wire at such a distance from the earthed end as to obtain proper impedance matching. The assembly 22 includes an instrument panel pad with a rigid moulded plastics base 36, a resilient intermediate layer 40 of foamed plastics material, and a pliable sheet plastics outer skin 38. The conductor 42 is located below the skin 38, and is embedded in the layer 40. Instead of being a wire, the conductor 42 may be made from foil &c.
