Abstract

1431388 Expandable mandrels DIDDE-GLASER Inc 28 June 1973 [5 Sept 1972] 30913/73 Heading F2U An expandable mandrel comprises a tubular member 38 around a shaft 12 and encircled by a plurality (e.g. three) of axially extending elements 26 (e.g. rectangular bars or segmental), relative axial movement of the member 38 causing the elements 26 to move radially (e.g. due to wheels 28 engaging cam surfaces 42). The member 38 may be moved axially by rotating a nut 44. Axial adjustment of the mandrel may be provided. Fig. 8, by a further nut 64 screwed on to a thread 66 on the shaft 12<SP>1</SP>. The elements 26 may have marks 60 to assist axial location of a roll core thereon.
