Abstract

1431075 Bearings; seals SKF INDUSTRIAL TRADING & DEVELOPMENT CO BV 25 July 1973 [26 July 1972] 35352/73 Headings F2A and F2B In a roller thrust bearing comprising a sheetmetal sleeve 5 mounted on the radially outer surface 6 of a flange-less race ring 1, the bearing space is sealed by a ring 4 of resilient material, and one edge of the sleeve is folded inwardly in the zone of the said surface and subsequently extends substantially parallel to the raceway 8 of the said ring and then extends towards the other ring 2 and is radially spaced from the internal surface 7 of the sleeve to form a flange 9 for radially guiding the rollers. A similar sleeve may alternatively or additionally be mounted on the radially inner surface of the race ring. When the assembly is recharged with grease spent grease is expelled through a gap 13, and through apertures 14. The assembly is held together by means of impressions 15 on the edge of the sleeve which engage in a recess 16. The rollers, which may be cylindrical or tapered, may be separated by plastics spacers or disposed in a cage.
