Abstract

1430851 Tampons PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 17 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23563/73 Heading A5R An absorbtive device, particularly a tampon, comprises a body of individual pieces 22 of flexible and resilient absorbent foamed material contained within a flexible fluid-permeable overwrap 28. The overwrap 28 may comprise a tube the ends of which are gathered together to form a cylindrical tampon a part of the overwrap may be folded into the aggregate to form a cavity extending substantially completely through the tampon as shown. The absorbent material may have a dry aggregate modulus of compression at 25% compression of 0.004-0.050 psi. Pieces 39 of an ancillary material having a higher modulus of compression may be mixed with the aggregate material. The tampon may be provided in an inserter of the telescoping tube type.
