Abstract

1430367 Vacuum chambers DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 7 Aug 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 36446/72 Heading FIX A vacuum chamber 1 communicates with a prevacuum chamber 2 into which articles may be fed through an opening 8 while the chamber 1 is sealed by a valve-member 3. The articles in a holder 18 are placed on the member 3 and when the chamber 2 has been evacuated the member 3 is partially lowered so that the holder 18 can be engaged by a fork member 15 and transferred into the chamber 1 where the holder 18 can be further engaged by a manoeuvring fork 11 after rotation of the member 15 through 90 degrees by magnetic means co-operating with an end 17. The holder 18 has a slot 23 for engagement by a key 24 so that the forks can be withdrawn.
