Abstract
1430286 Pipe winding apparatus VETKOKESINA SpA 17 Oct 1973 [31 Jan 1973] 48451/73 Heading B8G [Also in Division F2] In a machine for making pipes, rotatable mandrels are turret-mounted for indexing from one work station to the next. As shown, Fig. 1, turret 12 supports four mandrels 5 for indexing between stations A-C, and has gears for separately rotating each mandrel about its longitudinal axis. One or more stations may have a mandrel support 4, including a tailstock, which may be mounted on guides 13, Fig. 4. In the simultaneous operations shown: at A liner ribbon 6 is wound on a mandrel and sprayed with resin, e.g. polyester resin, containing glass fibres; at B, a liner is wound with resin-impregnated filaments; at C, a pipe is manually finished; and at D a pipe is removed from a mandrel, e.g. pushed off by a pneumatically operated head. Each station may have a suction hood 9. At least one of the stations may have a bed 1 supporting a trolley 2. The pipes formed may comprise an insulating layer, e.g. of expanded polyurethane, sandwiched by glass reinforced resin layers.
