1430201 Alkali metal mono-, bi-, and triphosphates BENCKISER-KNAPSACK GmbH 8 Feb 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 6207/73 Addition to 1196496 Heading C1A In a method for making alkali metal mono-, bi- or tri-phosphate or mixtures thereof by continuously mixing phosphoric acid of P 2 O 5 content 40-65% by weight with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide containing 40-70% of alkali metal hydroxide by weight in a zone from which the hot mixture is sprayed through at least one nozzle of such cross-section that at least the minimum pressure to prevent evaporation of water before the mixture is sprayed is maintained, the hot mixture is sprayed into a rotary tube calciner. Part of the product from the calciner may be recycled therethrough, preferably in a ratio to new material of 1 : 5 to 5 : 1. The cooled final product may be sprayed with 3-15% by weight of water and allowed to dry. A product of particle size 0À2-2 mm. and of density 900- 1100 g./l. may be obtained.
