Abstract

1430166 Band saws J NARMONTAS 1 Nov 1974 [9 Aug 1973] 37898/73 Heading B5L A band saw has an enclosing cabinet 13, a lower drive pulley 14 fixedly mounted in the cabinet and at least one upper pulley 4 mounted so as to be retractible into the cabinet. Upper pulleys 2, 3, 4 are mounted on a support beam 1 which extends from a slide member 10 having projecting rails 11 which co-operate with guide channels in a guide member 12, jacking means 18, 19 being provided for raising the upper pulley structure into the operative working position (Fig. 1) or lowering it therefrom (Fig. 2). The top 16 of the cabinet may be mounted inclined as shown to provide for angled cuts. Means may be provided for adjusting the support 1 about hinges on its longitudinal edge thereby to adjust the axes of the pulleys to ensure correct running of the saw band. The upper pulley structure may be pivotally rather than slidably mounted.
