Abstract

1430036 Balance beams R REUTHER 2 April 1974 [6 April 1973] 14624/74 Heading A6M A balance beam for gymnastic purposes is provided on the upper surface with an elastic layer 11 covered with a coating 17 wherein between the coating and the elastic layer an intermediate layer 14 is provided, having a greater flexual rigidity than the elastic layer and the coating. In a preferred embodiment, the intermediate layer 14 is made of wood or plastics material, the edge zones 12, 13 of the layer 11 are provided by a harder material than the central part, the sides of the beam are provided with a layer of elastic material 15, 16 and the beam is encased in carpet or plastics material 17; the various layers being fixed together by adhesive. The intermediate layer 14 may be formed by a leaf-type spring with a length corresponding to the length of the beam.
