Abstract

1429146 Cam followers KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 17 July 1974 [8 Aug 1973] 31744/74 Heading F2K In a roller cam follower having a cylindrical body 1, for use in a fuel injection pump (not shown) in which the cam roller 3 is rotatably seated in a part-cylindrical bed 4 in the follower body 1, which bed 4 extends around more than one half of the circumference of the roller 3 to radially retain the roller 3, the roller 3 is axially located and retained on the body 1 by adaptor sleeves or cylindrical pins 7 fixed in the body 1 in the region of the greatest depth of the bed 4, the arrangement allowing the use of the maximum width of cam roller 3 within the outer peripheral surface of the body 1. As shown, the pins 7 are arranged parallel to the axis of the body 1 whilst in Figs. 4 to 6 (not shown) the pins are arranged transverse thereto. In this latter arrangement the pins may be formed with right angled notches (10) extending along their length (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) with the cam roller ends located thereby, screw-driver slots (12) being provided in the pins to allow correct positioning of the pins in the body 1.
