Abstract

1428896 Surgical drapes C R BARD INC 29 Jan 1974 [4 June 1973] 04168/74 Heading ASR A surgical drape comprises a cover 10, Figure 3, of non-woven material resistant to the passage of bacterial organisms, the cover having a fenestration 11 with an imperforate sheet 12 of thermoplastic elastomeric material secured by heat or adhesive to the in use under surface of cover 10 along a seal line 13 spaced from the edge of the fenestration 11 to form pockets 14, Figure 4, for the reception of absorbent material 15, the material of sheet 12 consisting of a block copolymer of styrene and butadiene with an elongation of between 800% and 1400% and upper and lower anti-skid surfaces. In use, a slit is cut in the sheet 12 and its sides 16', 16" are held open by retractors 17 to expose an operating site 18.
