Abstract
648,733. Protective film. SQUIRE, J. R., BULL, J. P., SMALL, P. A., and BROWNING, J. Oct. 25, 1948, No. 27687. [Class 81(ii)] Medical and surgical dressings comprise a film of an N-alkoxymethyl derivative of a polyamide such as polyhexamethylene adipamide (see Group IV(a)) the film being 1/100 inch to 1/1000 inch thick and having means at its periphery by which the film is attached to the skin in a bacteria impermeable joint. In the figure the film 1 of an N-alkoxymethyl polyamide is held between a lower frame 2 of polyvinyl chloride coated on both sides with an adhesive, and an upper frame 3 of polyvinyl chloride having adhesive on its underside. A gauze 5 protects the lower adhesive side of the frame 2 and is removed before use. The film may also be made into a finger stall, glove or bag for a whole limb, the base of film being sealed with binding or adhesive plaster. Specification 573,482, [Group IV], and U.S.A. Specification 2,430,860 are referred to.
