Abstract
142,876. Melde, F. W. April 3, 1918. Roofs and roofing.-A roofing-tile of substantially rectangular form, moulded from cement and having longitudinally-extending ribs united at their upper ends by a transverse rib, is grooved at 17, 18 to receive a packing-cable 16, and at one side, beneath one of the ribs, has two grooves 10, 11 forming between them a rib 12 having a drain-groove 30, the grooves 10, 11, when assembled, receiving upwardly projecting ribs 7, 8 of the next adjacent tile, these ribs having their upper faces disposed in a plane above that of the outer face of the tile. The packing-cables are secured by wires 20 having coiled ends embedded in the tile. In assembling, the tiles may be secured by metal brackets 26, the walls of the grooves 10 being recessed to receive the ends 27 thereof, or by wires 22 the coils 23 of which are embedded in the tile, nails 24 being used to secure the free ends.
