Abstract

1428678 Electron beam deflecting apparatus PLESSEY CO Ltd 1 June 1973 [17 June 1972] 28469/72 Heading H1D A blue lateral convergence unit for use in a colour TV receiver comprises six radially disposed polepieces 4 magnetically coupled at their outer ends by a substantially continuous magnetic circuit, alternate ones only of the polepieces being provided with means for producing static and dynamic magnetic fields in the centre, the pattern of the field strengths being dependent on the positioning of the polepieces. The continuous magnetic circuit may be a single length of material (e.g. a strip 3 of Mu-metal (Registered Trade Mark). Coils 7, 8 may be of rectangular cross-section and the coil carrying polepieces may be equiangularly disposed at 120 degrees, or may be <120 degrees apart. Dynamic coils 7 are fed with horizontal scanning frequency current (normally 15 kHz) and static coils 8 with D.C. Application to delta gun arrays and 100 degree C.R.T.S. is disclosed. Unit 1 may be in a two part housing with integral connecting legs and may carry two rotatable annular magnets for purity adjustment.
