Abstract
1428370 Ultrasonic inspection devices BRITISH STEEL CORP 8 June 1973 [8 June 1972] 26826/72 Heading H4D Ultrasonic testing apparatus includes a probe assembly mounted for rotation about a test article so as to transcribe a close-pitched helix about the article, the probe assembly comprising a number of ultrasonic probes, each being detachably mounted for separate individual alignment adjustment relative to the test article. Ring 9 is rotated about the article and carries four probes, only one being shown in detail. The probe, being a cylinder with its axis parallel to the rotation axis and having a transducer crystal on one side, is held in place by a member 53. A worm 54 and worm-wheel 52 assembly is used to rotate the probe to adjust its alignment relative to the article, an operating knob 58 being provided. A clamp 60 is provided to lock the probe in position. A printed circuit board 61 connects the probe to circuitry. The probe assembly is detachably mounted to the remainder of the apparatus by quick release clips 40.
