Abstract

1427573 Clamping printing plates RICOH KK 15 June 1973 [17 June 1972] 28628/73 Heading B6C [Also in Division G2] Rotary drum 1 receives a succession of sheets 2, which may be lithographic printing plates, and grips them in leading and trailing edge clamps actuated in dependence on the rotational position of the drum. The trailing edge clamp is arranged to open when the leading edge clamp grips the leading edge of a sheet 2, and to close when the trailing edge of the sheet is within its grasp. Preferably the sheets are pre-imaged lithographic printing plates, and are etched while on the drum, which then acts as a printing cylinder, or are electrophotographic recording members which are charged, imaged, developed and used as lithographic printing plates while on the drum. After use, the sheets are stripped from the drum and discharged.
