Abstract

1426976 Producing and purifying maltose SANMATSU KOGYO Ltd 9 April 1974 [5 June 1973] 15698/74 Heading C2S [Also in Division C3] A method for the production of maltose comprises preparing a starch hydrolysate predominantly containing maltose and dextrin by the action of #-amylase on a low DE liquefied starch solution, and then fractionating the maltose and dextrin in the thus saccharified solution by contacting the solution with an anion exchange resin. The starch may be liquefied by conventional means, e.g. heating with agitation or by treatment with α-amylase.
