Abstract
1426657 Polymeric carriers; insolubilized enzymes CESKOSLOVENSKA AKADEMIE VED 22 Jan 1974 02971/74 Headings C3H and C3P Carriers for biologically active compounds, e.g. chymotrypsin, are made by (1) suspension copolymerization of a hydroxy ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid with a cross-linking monomer selected from divinyl benzene, bisacrylamides, bismethacrylamides, and acrylate and methacrylate esters of bi- or tri-functional alcohols, (2) activation of the resulting gel polymer by reaction of hydroxy groups with cyanogen bromide, and (3) removal of water from the product, e.g. by solvent treatment of vacuum distillation at below freezing temperature. In examples, the carrier comprises an activated 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate/ethylene glycol dimethacrylate copolymer.
