Abstract
142,636. Cotton Proprietary, Ltd., T. W., and Cotton, T. W. April 14, 1919 Air, treating; forced ventilation.-Apparatus for ventilating buildings, particularly theatres and the like, consists of a chamber 2 located at the. top of the building, and subdivided by fans 1 into a central inlet compartment 3 and receiving- compartments 4, from which the air is led to the building either directly or by way of distributing-chambers 6 with inlet gratings 8. Fig. 5 shows an apparatus for cooling and purifying the air, in which water or other cooling-fluid, which may contain an antiseptic, is continuously circulated by a pump 13 over an arrangement of louvers or troughs 10 having their edges 21 serrated so as to form a liquid curtain 22. The liquid is collected in a trough 12, and cooled by being sprayed from a pipe against the walls of a chamber 15 before again passing over the louvers. One or more series of the louvers, preferably with a single distributor system and collecting-drain, may be arranged in front of the inlet to the compartment 3 or the outlets from the compartments 4.
