Abstract

1425924 Vibratory sieves, strainers and ball mills RUSSELL FINEX LTD 26 Feb 1973 [18 May 1972] 23522/72 Headings B1D, B2A and B2H [Also in Divisions B8 and F2] Vibratory apparatus, such as a strainer or ball mill, or a sieve having a discharge spout 19, has a frame 11, to be vibrated with respect to a base 10, mounted by at least one elongate member 34 attached at its lower end to the base by a resilient block 35 and at its upper end by a further resilient block 35 to the frame 11. Three or more such mountings 15, about the annular vibratory frame 11, support it from the base 10 which carries an electric motor 31, for driving out-of balance weights 24, 25 through a resilient shaft-coupling 26 whose upper half is mounted on the shaft 23 of the vibrator assembly 20. The vibratory frame 11 is mounted by webs 21 on a housing 22 of the shaft 23. Vibration may be vertical, horizontal or both. Each rubber block 35 is bonded to an inner sleeve 37 in its bore, which like the sleeve may be tapered towards the adjacent end of the rod 34. Each sleeve 37 and a dished washer 39 are held on an end of rod 34 between a pair of nuts 38. Eaoh rubber block 35 forms part of a bushing 32 or 33 completed by a bonded outer sleeve 36 with a flange 41 which engages the edge of a hole 14 in a flange 12 on the base 10 or a hole 17 in the vibratory frame 11. As shown for the bushing 32, a bolt-andnut 40 secures a lug on each outer sleeve 36 to the flange 12 or the frame 11. The effective length of the rod 34 may be adjusted or the rod replaced 'by one of different length for absorption of horizontal gyratory vibrations and large initial and final vibrations. In a further embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the vibrator-assembly shaft-housing is mounted on trunions about whose horizontal axis the vibrator assembly and drive can be swung to any of a number of positions and then secured. The inclination of the shaft and thus the amplitude of the vertical component of vibration, with respect to the horizontal component, can be determined.
