Abstract
1314488 Screening apparatus ALLIS-CHALMERS CORP 25 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 39895/71 Heading B2H A vibratory screen arranged to gyrate in a circular path about a horizontal axis XX' comprises a screen body 10 having a pair of horizontally-spaced vertical side walls 15, 16; a rigid tubular cross-member 20a secured at its end portions to the side walls by a weld 42a formed around the entire periphery of each end portion to join the cross-member to an aperture 40a in each side wall so as to provide with the screen body a rigid assembly having a natural frequency above the operating vibration frequency of the screen, the welds 42a being of annular configuration corresponding to the circular path of motion of the screen in vertical planes defined by the welds around the cross-member; and a vibrator drive shaft 22 disposed within the tubular cross-member 20a and rotatably mounted in bearings 24 arranged at the ends of the crossmember, the drive shaft carrying an eccentric mass 25 (27, 28) for counter balancing the screen body relative to the axis of gyration of the screen. Each end of the cross-member 20a is secured by annular welds 42a, 43a respectively to a vertical surface 44 and to the inner circumferential surface 45 of a collar 41 welded to the aperture 40a in each side wall. Further cross-members 20, 20b of smaller diameter than cross-members 20a are welded to apertures in the side-walls. The cross-members 20b project beyond the side-walls and carry bradsets mounted on top of springs 11 which support the screen body. The drive shaft 22 is belt-driven by a motor 30 and carries an eccentric counterbalancing mass 25 as well as balance wheels 26 having weights 27, 28 attached thereto to provide an eccentric counterbalancing mass to supplement the mass 25, or as an alternative to mass 25. Two vertically spaced parallel screen decks 33, 34 are supported at the feed and discharge ends 12, 13 by beams 35 and at intermediate locations by the tubular members 20.
