Abstract

1425862 Pneumatic tyres DUNLOP Ltd 30 May 1973 [6 June 1972] 25743/73 Heading B7C In a pneumatic tyre having a breaker assembly which comprises one or more plies 2 of cord fabric and has its lateral edges folded axially inwardly in the shoulder regions of the tyre to define two pockets disposed symmetrically on either side of the tyre mid-circumferential plane M, each pocket contains a substantially inextensible flexible ring 3, 4 extending circumferentially around the tyre and disposed within a moulded rubber body 5, 6 shpaed to substantially fill the pocket. Each ring may be formed from steel, aluminium or brass wire, e.g. from several wires stranded together, or from carbon or polyamide fibre or fibre glass. The tyre may have a steel cord radial carcass.
