Abstract

1462656 Pneumatic tyres UNIROYAL AG 15 March 1974 [19 March 1973] 11683/74 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre comprises a belt or breaker comprised of a plurality of plies e.g. two or three, one or two rubber bodies covering the radially inward marginal portions of the radially innermost ply and the edges of the belt plies, and one or two rubber pads radially inward of the body or bodies and radially outward of the carcass, the Shore A hardness of the body or bodies being between 70 degrees and 80 degrees and the Shore A hardness of the pad or pads being 55 degrees and 70 degrees. As illustrated the tyre includes two bodies 9, 10 and two pads 11, 12 and the bodies overlie the margins of the radially outermost belt ply 7. The radial dimensions 9a, 9b, 10a, 10b are substantially equal to the thicknesses of the respectively adjacent plies 7, 8. The axial width of each of the bodies and pads may be approximately 25%, or between 45 and 50%, of the tread width. The modulus of elasticity of the bodies is preferably between 60 and 80 kg/cm<SP>2</SP> at 150% elongation; and that of the pads is preferably between 45 and 70 kg/cm<SP>2</SP> at 300% elongation. The belt ply cords are preferably made of wire, glass fibre, or textile such as rayon or nylon.
