Abstract
1425858 Crease-proofing compositions DOW CORNING CORP 23 Feb 1973 [25 Feb 1972] 8897/73 Heading C3R and C3T [Also in Division D1] A textile-treating composition comprises 50-99 wt. per cent of a crease-proofing agent and 1-50 wt. per cent of a polysiloxane having free carboxyl groups. Suitable crease-proofing agents include urea-formaldehyde, melamineformaldehyde, dimethylolethyleneurea, dimethylolpropyleneurea, methylol imidazolidone, dimethyloldihydroxyethyleneurea, tetramethoxymethyl dimethylene diureide, dimethylol uron, dimethylolethyltriazone, formaldehyde, glyoxal methyloldimethylhydantoin, epoxy resins, e.g. vinyl cyclohexene dioxide, dichlorohydrins, the pyridinium salt of ethylene bis-chloromethyl ether, tris-1- aziridinyl phosphine oxide, divinyl sulphone resins, a bis - hydroxyethylsulphone/sodium thiosulphate adduct, tris - (beta - sulphatoethyl)sulphonium salts, N,N-dimethylol ethyl carbamate and tris-(N-methylol-2-carbamoylethyl)amine. Suitable polysiloxanes comprise 75-99 mole per cent of units R n SiO 4-n / 2 and 1-25 mole per cent of units where R is a hydrocarbon radical optionally substituted with halogen atoms or cyano, isocyano, hydroxy, mercapto, ether, thioether, ester, thioester or nitro groups, R<SP>1</SP> is a divalent radical containing C, H and optionally O or S atoms, n is 0, 1, 2, or 3, m is 0, 1 or 2, at least 90% of the R-containing units contain at least one CH 3 radical and at least 90% of all units have 2 substituents, the average being 1À8 to 2À1. In the examples aqueous emulsions of polydimethylsiloxanes containing 1, 2À5 or 5 mol per cent of units are added to solutions of methylolated ethyleneurea (methylol imidazolidone) or glyoxal, with MgCl 2 , ZnCl 2 or Zn(NO 3 ) 3 as catalyst, and a surfactant. The mixtures are applied to fabrics of polyester and/or cotton.
