Anchoring; indicators, applications of.-A member for handling rigid air-ships consists of a conical projection mounted on gimbals adapted to enter a corresponding framework on the ship and to be locked thereto, or free to give limited upward or downward relative movement and also leave the ship to rotate on a vertical axis, and to roll or pitch under corrective control. A turntable with conical projection 1, Figs. 2 and 3, is mounted on gimbals 4, 8 carried by hydraulic pedestals 15 for altering the height, the whole being mounted on a frame, with or without power means for driving the frame. Slidably mounted in the table is a pivot pin 2 adapted to enter a framework 52, 53 in the ship. At the bottom of the framework is a conical enlargement adapted to take the projection 1<1> on the turntable, and to be locked thereto by pawls 23, 24. Balance weights 14 damp out longitudinal oscillations of the ship. In order to take the trim, the balance-weight pins 13 are detached. To take the " lift reading, the pawls 22 are withdrawn, and a sleeve 19 is locked by the pin 29 to the framework 52; the ship then raises the sleeve until a piston 17. Fig. 6, which is coupled to the sleeve 19 by a pin 20 passing through slots 18 in the hollow pin 2, compresses air in the pin to balance the lift, a pressure gauge or like giving a " lift " reading. When the readings have been taken, the ship is pulled down and re-locked by the pawls 22 to the turntable. For moving a ship, it is swung about the pivot point until it is head-to-wind, and is then transported by the platform, which is of caterpillar or like form.
