Abstract

1425682 Rollers ESCHER WYSS GmbH 25 April 1974 [3 May 1973] 18146/74 Heading F2U A roll for use in paper-making apparatus has an internal cavity 10 supplied with coolant via a plurality of peripherally spaced passages 6 terminating adjacent the outer wall 8 of the cavity (at 7). The coolant leaves the cavity through openings 15 and a pipe 11. The angle b of passages 6 is shown as 60 degrees and should be greater than 30 degrees. The system shown results in effective cooling due to laminar flow of the coolest coolant along the wall 8, centrifugal force also helping to keep the densest (i.e. coolest) at wall 8. The roller has a layer of rubber 2 on its surface.
