Abstract

1425104 Heat exchangers METALLGESELLSCHAFT AG 14 Sept 1973 [6 Oct 1972] 43374/73 Heading F4S Inert solid particles in an amount of 0À5 to 20% by volume are added to a heat transfer liquid supplied to a heat exchanger, the solids having an average particle diameter in the range of 10 to 150 microns, and the average velocity of the suspension being adjusted to correspond to a Reynolds number (defined in the Specification) in the range of 10,000 to 70,000 based on a pipe diameter of 1 centimetre. Suitable heat exchange liquids are said to include water, aqueous solutions or organic solvents. Suitable solids are said to be those having a density of more than 1 gram per cubic centimetre such as sand, ore dust, and ground slag.
